BIKES FOR KIDS

Variety of Colorado's Kids on the Go program is available for your school. We will present bikes and helmets to children designated by their school as positive role model students.

Since 2007 Variety of Colorado has presented more than 250 bikes to deserving students throughout the Colorado’s Front Range. Our goal is to positively impact the children and to increase the number of bikes we can present each year.

On Saturday, May 15, 2010, Variety of Colorado Board Members and volunteers gifted more than 130 bikes and helmets to well deserving children from Central Elementary School in Commerce City. The children were nominated by their teachers and had to submit a special school essay as part of the Kids on the Go application process.
The distribution, held at Rocky Mountain Greyhound Park in Commerce City, included a Bicycle Safety Rodeo Course, a special visit by Adams County firefighters, fresh popcorn and music by DJ Steve Robinson.

MIRACLES IN MOTION

For over 75 years, Variety – The Children’s Charity has been serving children with special needs. These children want to be active members in their communities and get a chance to just be a kid. In order to achieve this, they need what most of us take for granted: access.

For children with disabilities, this means having the freedom to go where they want to, either on their own, or if they need assistance, reducing the impact they make on those helping them. With the advent of many new mobility technologies, this access is becoming available to more and more children. Variety of Colorado has been focused on providing children in our community with prosthetic limbs, walkers, wheelchairs, and specially designed adaptive bikes.
